How it is used

States a scheduled plan: 'be scheduled to / plan to'. Unlike 「〜つもりだ」, which is about personal intention, 「予定」 is for arrangements already fixed, including public ones such as flights and events.

Examples

  1. 来月、友達と京都へ行く予定です。

    I'm planning to go to Kyoto with friends next month.

  2. 飛行機は午後三時に着く予定だ。

    The plane is scheduled to arrive at 3 p.m.
