Give B to A (A is a third party, not yourself)

How to form it

  • personにnounをあげる

How it is used

Giving from me or my side to someone else, or between other people. When someone gives to me or my side, use 「くれる」 instead. For superiors use 「差し上げる」; for animals, plants or juniors, 「やる」.

Examples

  1. あなたは、 だれでも欲しい人にこの写真をあげてもいい。

    You may give this picture to whoever wants it.

  2. 母の日に、母に花をあげました。

    I gave my mother flowers on Mother's Day.

  3. 父は近所の子どもにりんごをあげた。

    My father gave some apples to a neighbor's child.
