〜と言ったところだmeaning and usage

Meaning

Display an amount/level/degree A (程度)

How to form it

  • nounといったところだ
  • verb (dictionary form)といったところだ
  • nounってところだ

How it is used

The level or amount is roughly A, 'about A, more or less', often implying it isn't much: 「まあまあといったところだ」. Casual speech says 「〜ってところだ」.

Examples

  1. Ａ：お母さんの具合はどうだい？ Ｂ：うん、まあ、一進一退といったところだ。

    A: How is your mother's health? B: Well, she has her good times and bad times.

  2. 毎日の勉強時間は、せいぜい一時間といったところだ。

    My daily study time is an hour at most.

  3. 料理の腕前は、まあ人並みといったところです。

    As for my cooking, it's about average, I'd say.
