How it is used

Adds a small related fact after the main point: 'incidentally', 'just so you know'. Unlike 「ところで」, which changes the subject, what follows still ties back to what was just said.

Examples

1. この町のワインはとても有名ですよ。 ちなみにビールもおいしいです。

   The wine in this town is really famous. Additionally, the beer is good, too.

2. 明日の会議は十時からです。ちなみに、場所は三階に変わりました。

   Tomorrow's meeting starts at ten. By the way, it has moved to the third floor.

3. このケーキは私が作ったんだ。ちなみに、砂糖は使っていないよ。

   I made this cake. And just so you know, there's no sugar in it.
