How to form it

How it is used

A conjunction adding a further point in the same direction: 'besides, on top of that'. Slightly more formal than 「それに」; 「しかも」 puts extra stress on the added point.

Examples

  1. 彼はよく考える人です。 その上行動力もあります。

    He's a person who thinks carefully. Furthermore, he's able to take action.

  2. この部屋は広くて明るい。その上、駅から近い。

    This room is spacious and bright. On top of that, it's close to the station.

  3. 道に迷って、その上雨まで降ってきた。

    I got lost, and on top of that it started to rain.
