How it is used

Adds another point in the same direction as what came before: besides, on top of that. It is mostly conversational; written texts often use 「その上」 or 「さらに」.

Examples

1. 片付けは苦手。それに全部大事な物なの。

   I'm not good at tidying up. Besides, these are all important things.

2. この部屋は広いです。それに、駅から近いです。

   This room is spacious. Besides, it's close to the station.

3. もう遅いし、それに雨も降ってきたから、帰ろう。

   It's already late, and on top of that it's started raining, so let's go home.
