〜的: meaning and usage

How to form it

• noun+的+な+noun
• noun+的+に+verb
• noun+的だ

How it is used

Added to a kanji noun to form a な-adjective, 'A-like, in an A way': 「経済的」, 「現実的」. Use 「〜的な」 before nouns and 「〜的に」 before verbs. It can't be added to just any noun; stick to established words.

Examples

1. これはとても現実的な解決策だね。

   This is a very realistic solution.

2. 毎日少しずつ練習するのが、一番効果的な方法だ。

   Practising a little every day is the most effective way.

3. このレポートは、もっと具体的に書いてください。

   Please make this report more specific.
