JLPT N3 grammar

〜通す: meaning and usage

Meaning

Continue to A, do A until the end

How to form it

  • verb (masu-stem)通す

How it is used

After a masu-stem, means doing something through to the end: 「走り通す」 (run the whole way), 「やり通す」 (see it through). It stresses not giving up partway, and focuses more on finishing than 「〜続ける」.
