〜というか: meaning and usage

Meaning

Instead of A, you could say B; rather than A, B. Used to restate A in a different/more accurate way B

How to form it

  • verb (plain form)/い-adjectiveというか
  • noun/な-adjective (stem)というか

How it is used

Casual: having said A, the speaker rephrases it as B, which fits better: 'A, or rather B'. Close to 「〜というより」, but more conversational.
