How it is used

A formal written 'and', used in documents, rules and notices: 「学生及び教職員」. In a list it comes before the last item, and it only joins nouns. In conversation, 「と」 is used instead.

Examples

1. 説明会は学校の生徒及び保護者を対象に開催されます。

   The information session will be held for students as well as parents/guardians.

2. 店内での飲食及び写真撮影はご遠慮ください。

   Please refrain from eating, drinking and taking photos in the shop.

3. 申込書には、氏名、住所及び電話番号をご記入ください。

   Please fill in your full name, address and phone number on the application form.
