〜やすい: meaning and usage

How to form it

• verb (masu-stem)+やすい

How it is used

“Easy to do”, or “tends to, is likely to” (「忘れやすい」). It conjugates like an い-adjective (「〜やすく」, 「〜やすかった」). The opposite is 「〜にくい」.

Examples

1. 日本人はいつでも、箸の方がたべやすいです。

   For Japanese people, it's always easier to use chopsticks when they eat.

2. 先生の説明は、とてもわかりやすいです。

   The teacher's explanations are very easy to understand.

3. 白い服は汚れやすいので、あまり着ません。

   White clothes get dirty easily, so I don't wear them much.
