How it is used

After a noun: 'covered all over in A', usually mud, sweat, dust or oil, and figuratively in 「借金まみれ」. 「〜だらけ」 just means 'full of'; 「〜まみれ」 stresses the whole surface being coated.

Examples

1. 子供たちはどろまみれになって遊んでいた。

   The children played and got covered with mud.

2. 一日中働いて、シャツが汗まみれになった。

   After working all day, my shirt was soaked with sweat.

3. 倉庫から出てきた箱は、ほこりまみれだった。

   The box we brought out of the storeroom was covered in dust.
