How to form it

How it is used

After nouns like 「家族」, 「町」 and 「会社」: the whole group, all together, as in 「家族ぐるみの付き合い」. It can be negative too (「会社ぐるみの不正」). 「身ぐるみ」 means everything one has on.

Examples

  1. この辺は治安が悪い。以前は追いはぎに身ぐるみ剥がされた。

    The public order in this area is bad. Previously, I was robbed by a highwayman of everything I had.

  2. 隣の家とは、もう二十年も家族ぐるみで付き合っている。

    Our family and the family next door have been friends for twenty years now.

  3. この町では、町ぐるみでごみを減らす運動に取り組んでいる。

    This whole town is working together on a campaign to reduce rubbish.
