How to form it

How it is used

「Nのいかんによらず／にかかわらず／を問わず」: 'regardless of A', where A is a reason, a result or someone's response. More formal than 「にかかわらず」; common in rules and notices. For 'depending on A', use 「いかんで（は）」.

Examples

  1. 理由のいかんによらずレポートを提出しなかった者は落第とします。

    Regardless of the reason, those who didn't turn in their report will fail the class.

  2. 審査の結果いかんにかかわらず、応募作品はお返しできません。

    Whatever the judges decide, entries cannot be returned.

  3. 規模のいかんを問わず、すべての会社にこの規則が適用される。

    Whatever their size, this rule applies to all companies.
