How it is used

'In line with A, closely following A': A is usually facts, actual conditions, experience or rules, and the stress is on staying true to reality. Fairly formal; before nouns 「〜に即した」. Close to 「〜に沿って」 and 「〜に基づいて」.

Examples

  1. 事実に即して議論してください。

    Please base the discussion on the facts.

  2. 現場の状況に即した対策が必要だ。

    We need measures that fit the actual conditions on site.

  3. この件は、会社の規則に即して処理します。

    This matter will be handled in line with company rules.
