How to form it

  • nounを通じて/を通して
  • nounを通じた/を通してのnoun

How it is used

Two senses: throughout a period or area (「一年を通じて」), and through A as a go-between or means (「仕事を通して学ぶ」). For means, it stresses going through a person or channel more than 「〜によって」 does.

Examples

  1. この国は年間を通して気温の変化がない。

    This country has an even temperature (unchanging) throughout the year.

  2. 友人を通じて、今の会社を紹介してもらった。

    Through a friend, I was introduced to the company I work for now.

  3. 彼はシーズンを通して、一度も試合を休まなかった。

    He didn't miss a single game all season.
